Musical Revue at the Harrisville Village Community Center!
Join us Sunday September 13th from 3-5pm
Singer Eve Pierce and pianist Gordon Peery team up for a concert featuring songs from films and musicals throughout the ages.
“I grew up on musical theatre,” says Pierce. “ I have a deep love for the art form and the music that’s intrinsic to it.” In addition to being a musical performer, she is the choreographer for Conval High School Theatre’s musicals, and is the founder and director of The Dreamer’s Ensemble, a theatre troupe based in the Monadnock Region.
Peery also credits childhood experiences with his interest in musical theater. He says the songs speak (or sing) for themselves, in terms of energy and entertainment, but what particularly moves him is seeing local theater groups take to the stage. “I’d rather see a local group like the Lion’s club productions, or a high school performance, than a highly-polished show on Broadway” he says, adding that this particular show is being presented to inspire further use of the Harrisville Village Community Center for musical and theatrical productions. “It’s a great space that offers an intimacy that larger venues can’t provide. “
The program is appropriate for all ages, and kids are encouraged to attend. The audience can expect a charming collection of songs from such composers as Cole Porter, Harold Arlen, Rodges and Hammertstein, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and more.
HVCC co-director Tara Perry says “We’re thrilled to have this incredibly talented duo of Eve and Gordon performing in our space and to bring exciting music to the community. No doubt you can see how much they love sharing music together and they’ll leave you humming the tunes long after the show ends.”
